FERMENTATION TRAP
A popular plastic airlock that is used for the benefit of having a visual queue of the progress of your fermentation.
Half fill the airlock with clean water, this will allow fermentation gases to escape whilst preventing airborne contamination.
Alternatively, you can fill it with a weak solution of sodium, potassium metabisulphite or a neutral spirit such as Vodka.
