WHEN TO SOW September, late February to end of May.
WHERE TO SOW Sow the seeds thinly in well prepared seedbeds, 1cm deep in short rows 15cm apart.
WHAT TO DO NEXT As seedlings emerge, thin out to 5cm apart. When seedlings are 10-15cm tall transplant to growing site spacing plants 45cm apart. September sown seedlings should be grown on in a cold greenhouse/cold frame and planted out early March.
MATURITY June (from September sowings) and late June to October and November.
HANDY TIP When thinning the seedlings you can always plant these out 5cm apart in extra rows. Water plants regularly in dry weather to ensure continuous and steady growth.
